Moving Sucks, Part II

We heard from university housing in Seattle two weeks ago that they actually had an apartment available for us, and were astounded because it was much sooner than we thought it would be. They didn't give us any details at that time, and it took them nearly a week to get back to us. Unfortunately, they finally replied that we would have an apartment ready in October, over a month after we need to be in Seattle. After much deliberation we decided that the best option would be to forget the idea of university housing and simply find another place, even though it would cost more per month. Well, the housing market didn't change much during the week we weren't looking for places and we still could find no one willing to even consider renting to us without meeting us in person. And it would cost us $400 each to fly up there and look at places. Then university housing got back to us with a firm move-in date of October 5, which really isn't too bad, especially since we are pretty much out of all other options. (We tried the ward, no one has anything available. We tried a service that looks for you, and they don't serve people who want as low of rents as we need). We still have, however, the problem of what do until October 5. They referred us to another apartment complex that has some sort of relationship with the university. This complex informed us that they could possibly rent us a place for a month, but only at a hideously high price and after an extensive application process. And it's a partially furnished apartment. Yuck. But, we really are out of options. And it's just for one month, and then we'll be able to move into nice, cozy student housing that's cheap and close to campus. We still haven't heard anything back from our temporary home, despite having faxed them 12 pages of information this morning. We're crossing our fingers that they'll let us rent. Also, since the place is partially furnished we're deliberating over just getting rid of most of our furniture and then using the month we have to collect some "new" stuff. We're definitely holding on to our washer and dryer, though. I just realized tonight that exactly one week from tomorrow Master Fob and Svoid will be driving off to Seattle with all of our stuff. I just hope they have some place to go when they get there. Sigh--moving is such a nightmare!

Good luck. After that post it sounds like you should be ready for another sinfully delicious banana treat!

I'm thinking if that complex is sop hard to get into AND the rent is hideous, why not rent a storage unit for your stuff and stay in an extended-stay suite place, the price would prolly equal out.
